Our new unit of Inquiry is Sharing the Planet.
Our central idea is: Living things share their habitats with other living things and compete for food and space.
The lines of inquiry are: How living things are suited to their habitats, How living things co-exist in their habitats; How people can interact with habitats in a safe and responsible way
As part of the first line of inquiry, we have been classifying animals into two classes. Doing things is making the students aware of the different features and behaviours the animals have and will lead into the reasons for these - ie. how they are suited to their habitats.
Do you agree with the ways they have been sorted? Would you move any of these animals onto the other side? If so, why?
Some girls realised that there was a 'sometimes' option, so they moved some of the animals into the middle - can you find them? Do you agree with their choices?
What a great sorting out activity.
