We had a fantastic day out at Zoorasia! Thank you so much to the chaperones for keeping the girls safe and guiding their learning during the day.
After a busy morning, it was time to unwind. Here we are all together unwinding at lunchtime. Who are those naughty people in the background of this photo? ;)
Please don't eat me, Mr Predator!
This Lioness is stalking its prey - grade one students!
Hmmm.Something funny going on in this photo!!!!!!!
Now that we have photos of a variety of different animals our job is to identify the adaptations they have. Adaptations are special features or behaviour that make the animal perfect for the environment that it lives in.
Have a look at these photos that we took. Can you find the following features:
-Features that help the animals to hide from predators
-Features that help a predator hide from its prey when it sneaks up on it
-Features to escape quickly from predators
-Features to attract a mate
-Features to travel in water easily
-Features to travel in water easily
-Features that allow the animal to eat one kind of food
-Features that allow the animal to sense really well eg. smell, taste, touch/hold, hear, see
One of our lines of inquiry is about how we can interact with animals in a safe and responsible way. Look at the cages you see the animals in. Do you think we are showing enough care for the animals needs - do any of the animals need more space, any other animals to live with or more excitement?
